Srinagar, Sep 04 (KNO): Authorities on Thursday restricted trekking activities in north Kashmir, including Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara, in view of prevailing weather conditions and safety concerns. Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg in an advisory issued, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated that no trekking shall be undertaken in these areas without prior permission from the competent authority. “Even short treks in lower areas shall not be undertaken without due authorization, as such activities are unsafe in the present circumstances,” it reads. The advisory further cautioned that any violation will be at the sole risk and responsibility of the individual concerned. Earlier, Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) barred educational tours and picnics to the tourist resort, while the Chief Education Officer Kupwara cancelled school outings, particularly outside the district, citing safety risks and the nearing end of the academic session—(KNO)
